An adoption study by Cadoret et al. (1995) found that children with non-antisocial birth parents showed virtually no increase in aggressive behavior across a range of adverse adoptive home environment factors, but children who have an antisocial birth parent show a marked increase in aggressive symptoms if they were reared in an adverse adoptive home environment.
